Tarkan Karadere is a distinguished Senior Data Scientist at P&C Global, bringing over two decades of expertise in computational finance and data science. As a key member of the firm’s Data & Cognitive Sciences, Quantitative Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Corporate Performance practice groups, Tarkan has consistently delivered innovative solutions across various industries, including Financial Services, Manufacturing, Global Logistics, and Travel & Hospitality.
Tarkan’s academic journey began at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. His pursuit of advanced knowledge led him to the United States, where he obtained a Master of Science in Computational Finance (MSCF) from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, a program renowned for its interdisciplinary approach combining finance, mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
Tarkan’s career commenced at Ford Otosan in Turkey, where he served as a Data Analyst. In this role, he developed predictive models to optimize supply chain operations, contributing to significant cost reductions.
He then advanced to Deutsche Bank in London, assuming the position of Quantitative Analyst. Here, Tarkan specialized in developing complex financial models for risk assessment and derivative pricing, enhancing the bank’s trading strategies.
Prior to joining P&C Global, Tarkan was a Senior Data Scientist at Maersk Line in Copenhagen. He led initiatives to implement data-driven solutions for global logistics operations, resulting in improved efficiency and service delivery.
For Tarkan, competition and strategy have always been at the core of who he is. Born and raised in Türkiye, he grew up on the football pitch and the wrestling mat, where he learned the art of anticipation, precision, and resilience. Football sharpened his ability to think ahead, read patterns, and adapt on the fly, while wrestling instilled in him discipline, endurance, and the importance of seizing the right opportunity at the right moment.
But beyond sports, Tarkan was always fascinated by numbers, systems, and the way data could predict outcomes—whether in a game, a financial market, or a global supply chain. While many of his childhood friends dreamed of playing in the Süper Lig, he was just as excited about solving complex equations, understanding economic models, and uncovering insights hidden in data.
Today, as a Senior Data Scientist at P&C Global, Tarkan finds himself applying the same principles that made him a fierce competitor in sports—strategy, anticipation, and adaptability—to financial markets, AI-driven analytics, and business intelligence. The beauty of his role is that it allows him to work across industries he genuinely loves: finance, global logistics, and even travel & hospitality—where his models help companies predict demand, optimize resources, and navigate uncertainty.
Now based in Istanbul, Tarkan thrives in a city that, much like his career, is a blend of tradition and innovation. When he’s not building sophisticated predictive models, he’s often walking through the historic streets of Sultanahmet, discussing AI trends over Turkish coffee, or catching a late-night football match at a local stadium. A lifelong learner and mentor, he dedicates time to guiding aspiring data scientists, believing that the key to progress is not just technology, but the people who shape and apply it.
Reflecting on his journey, Tarkan shares:
“At P&C Global, I get to do what I love—solving complex problems that have real impact. Whether it’s helping a global bank reduce risk exposure or optimizing a logistics network across continents, it’s about bringing structure to chaos, just like in sports. You train, you plan, and then you execute with precision.”
And with a smirk, he adds:
“People assume that wrestling and data science have nothing in common. But trust me, they do. In both, you spend a lot of time analyzing patterns, anticipating your opponent—or in my case, market volatility—and figuring out your next best move. The only difference is that data doesn’t put you in a headlock.”
With his unique blend of technical expertise, strategic foresight, and relentless curiosity, Tarkan is not just a data scientist—he’s a problem solver, a mentor, and a lifelong competitor who thrives on the challenge of turning uncertainty into opportunity.
